"Brusger has rock-solid time, accurate intonation and formidable technique, all of which serve him well throughout the straightahead set . . . He can take a fairly basic riff and shape it into an unassuming treasure"
- Jim Ferguson, JazzTimes

"I'm not trying to reinvent the wheel,
I just want to keep it running smoothly and straight-ahead"

~Paul Brusger

Bassist

Recording Artist

In the Straight -Ahead hard-bop tradition, Paul Brusger's music is lively, energetic and
always swinging!

With a passion for baseball, Brusger was All-American at Eckert College and drafted by the San Diego Padres.  After a serious hamstring injury, Brusger turned his steadfast devotion to music and his love for jazz, particularly  Hard-Bop.

A self-taught Acoustic Bassist, Brusger is a Composer, Arranger and Recording Artist.  He has performed and played with many Jazz Greats, including Ronnie Cuber, John Hicks, Hod O'Brien, Ira Sullivan, Dado Maroni, Valery Ponomarev, John Swana, Kenny Drew, Jr., John Hart, Idrees Sullieman,  Cecil Payne, Teddy Charles, and Randy Johnston.

Jazz Journalist, Scott Yanow asserts, "he is not just a fine bassist in the tradition of Paul Chambers, Doug Watkins and Oscar Pettiford but is an up-and-coming composer too."
